Addressing Food Insecurity in Newark, NJ

Newark faces an urgent crisis of food insecurity, where access to fresh, affordable, and trustworthy food is limited or altogether absent for many residents. In Newark, corner stores and bodegas have historically filled the gap left by absent grocery chains. For many residents, these bodegas are trusted. Our project is rooted in this dynamic. By working with the existing infrastructure and not against it, we aim to channel fresh, locally grown produce into the very places where the community already feels safe and supported.
